update 9 July

My second term ended with a multi-day bush expedition. Originally a 5 days 4 nights tramp, I was thankful that it was reduced to a 3 days 2 nights tramp due to the bad weather forecast. Thank God for his provision of good weather! The weather turned up to be fantastic during the 3 days, contrary to what was forecasted in the news. My instructor could not believe we had such good weather during our tramp. We were tramping above 1000m and the weather for the few days was supposed to be 400 m snowline. And the best part was, there was rain and snow on mon and fri but good weather on tues to thurs while we were tramping. Isn't it amazing ?

I helped out in Lake Taupo Christian Camp during my first week of my school holidays. It was just 25 minutes away from Turangi. They really made me feel very welcome and I was fed 5 times a day. I felt so fat that I have to "force" myself to run after I came back from the camp. The camp, mainly for the age 9 – 12 years old was run 4 xs annually, comprising mainly of activities, worship and teaching of God's words.

Many student leaders from 13 to 16 years old will come forward to avail their service, some of them have attended as many as 20 over times. Amazing ! There is also a system where they will first go through the leaders' in training, then rise up as junior leaders before they finally come up as leaders. The leaders' in training will learn more about the words of God and how to serve others. By the time they rise up as leaders, they will be paid $100 to help out in the camp.

The program was not fantastic, but enough to keep the kids excited and occupied. They have archery, train ride, slug guns, mountain biking, trampoline, mini-golf, low rope, pool sessions and these activities can go on and on for the next 2 days. What I gain most was the worship and the way the word of God was delivered to the kids. It really delighted my heart when I see so many kids queuing up to thank God for answering their prayers on the last night of the camp.

Will be going up to the mountain tomorrow to find out more about the ski lessons but still can't find a friend to go with me. My friends are either working hard to earn some pocket money, or my philipino friends with family commitment. I will learn how to ski soon. :)
